![]() If you like collecting stuff and don't mind spending a lot of time harvesting resources/materials to craft/build/upgrade items, you will enjoy Dysmantle. But the game will still take a long time to finish as the area to explore is huge. This is NOT a survival game! Your progress will be saved and the dreaded "permadeath" is absent here. What remains is a dabble of secrets & mysteries, rewarding crafting mechanics, satisfying puzzles, and a polished game engine. But it's a distilled version of grindy fun with most of the frustrations extracted out. Posted: 1 August Dysmantle is like the offspring of Legend of Zelda (the first game) and Don't Starve. I did like the game, but being able to scan for the hidden tombs instead of using the internet and being able to get those ultimate weapons a little earlier so I could actually use them for more than a minute would greatly improve the endgame. Winning that fight allows you to end the game (roll credits) OR get another ultimate weapon that is impossible to get before you win that final battle and now that the game is over, you don't need it. TL dr: Finishing the game has one (probably) unwinnable fight that requires an ultimate weapon that requires finding 20 tombs all over the map with no way to find them. I guess I could have wandered around forever but didn't have the time and patience for that. In order to get the required ultimate weapon I absolutely had to use the internet to figure out where 5 tombs were located because the game doesn't give me an in-game way to find them. Maybe it's winnable without it but I failed repeatedly, then got the ultimate weapon just to win that one battle to get the second ultimate weapon that I never had any reason to get or use. There is another ultimate weapon that might be required for that unwinnable fight. Why put an ultimate weapon that can only be found after the game is finished? There is no reason to find it or use it! Finish the very last battle (the one I couldn't win) then fly away to the end credits OR don't fly away to the end credits but go get that ultimate weapon. But then I found out that the ONLY way to get that key is to literally finish the game. So I googled it and found out that the only reason to open the room is to get the best blunt weapon in the game. I also found an ARK and made my way to the 2nd level and couldn't open a back room. The game REALLY needs a way to scan for undiscovered points of interest. After a little googling I found that I needed to visit 3 more shelters and 5 more tombs.īut there is no way to find them. I knew what I needed to do but didn't have the resources to do it. The only unwinnable battle I faced in the game. Near the end, I found an unwinnable battle. There's something relaxing about smashing a bunch of stuff. But it can get -32° during winter!Īnyway, have a great summer everyone! (Missing the office AC already.)įun game. Also it's almost 32° Celcius (~90☏) outside right now, so. It's surreally bright during the night time. This might not be the best time to make that statement though as it's midsummer (Juhannus), which means that the sun basically doesn't go down AT ALL. This long break makes it up a bit for having to live in a cold and dark country like Finland. The next step for the team is to once more recharge our batteries with the traditional Finnish 4-5 week summer vacation. You can find out more about the Underworld (and perhaps wishlist it?) at it's Steam page here: We're expanding the main island a bit to give you some more room for your building activities and to add some Quests related to it. The focus will be on giving you more tools to build stuff like platforms, walls, furniture, etc. For those who survive the Underworld main quest, there will be a sweet and useful reward: among other earthly rewards, you will be able to fast travel between Campfires.Īll this will arrive with the upcoming 1.1.0 update #24 which will also contain some free playable content. The story will shed some more light onto the mysterious event happening on the island, and almost all the existing game features are expanded in some way: there will be new quests, recipes, skills, monsters, weapons, outfit, headgear, fish, plant to farm, buildables, and so on. Note that this is not an Undercrown related thing, this will go way deeper - and beyond. The DLC will feature a new open world map called the Underworld. The current estimated Steam release date is some time at the end of August, so we're close! We're happy to announce that we're on the final development stretch of a shiny new DYSMANTLE DLC called Underworld! We were hoping to get this out before the summer vacations, but unfortunately things simply aren't yet ready for release.
